Guide Referrals Made Easy

I would love to be able to refer a client to another guide on days when I am already booked. I currently do this by texting other guides for their availability and if there is a match I get 25% or the booking fee.
Also give the guide an ability to add other guides as "Connections" or "Collaborators" so that they can see each others calendar availability. This will also allow for a more fluid referral process and a better outfitter or fly shop experience.

We recently shipped the ability to add affiliated guides and manage which ones are assigned to trips!

When a guide has a client it cant service, he can post it as a referral to his "referring guides" group. This referral includes the date and client information for them to claim the trip. Once claimed, the client will get a notification.

Benjamin Lazarov Do we allow the referring guide to set their referral commission percentage for the trip? For example, Capt Dini is booked on the requested day. He can send the trip to Jared Raskob for only 10% commission (because he's more experienced and they are better friends), or he can send a younger/hungrier guide like Chandler Williams for 20% commission.

Sloane Brown: What do you think we should do? My thought is that the referring guide should set their standard referral fee. This should likely remain the same number regardless of the guide he sends a trip to. For example, it is either 10% or 0%.

Benjamin Lazarov: I think we start with a flat 10% fee and listen. I'll start asking the founding guides & beta testers what they think. We could end up with a cool type of "bidding" system eventually. But I think simplicity is best to start with.

Idea: Guides can create a "link" with other guides (almost like a friend request), approve, and configure a referral fee when they send trips their way. We can build out some sort of clean UX for this in the app.
Seems like a nice generalized way to handle referrals and ultimately the use case of an Outfitter or Fly shop.
